Meet your neighbours
June 5, 2018
Palm Lake Resort communities are tight-knit havens of likeminded neighbours and friends. Meet Konrad and Maureen. They call Palm Lake Resort Cooroy-Noosa home.
Konrad and Maureen returned to Australia after more than 20 years working overseas to build a large home on a 10-acre bush block. Set 400m off the road, it was perfectly private for their WILVOS work looking after sick and injured wildlife. Their home was a wildlife refuge, with kangaroos, wallabies and possums all calling it home as well.
While Konrad managed a local start-up coatings company, every spare minute was spent working on the property – that is until the aches and pains over the years stopped it from being fun. Maureen took the lead and started searching for alternatives and dragged a reluctant Konrad along. The pair looked at various models of residential accommodation. Konrad admits he was adamant they would not move from their acreage life with no fences and no neighbours to a village lifestyle as it seemed like a too-radical step. Both Konrad and Maureen are also very active and wondered what they would do all day without the land to control their time.
Then Maureen found Palm Lake Resort Cooroy-Noosa and after a couple of walks through The Pavilion country club, Konrad says he was “hooked”.
“The gymnasium is a stand out, as are the swimming pools, spas, saunas,” Maureen says. “The various activities on offer including chair yoga and aqua aerobics more than fill our days.”
“The neighbours here have become good friends,” Konrad adds. “As everyone says – we should have done it years ago!”
